This gown was not made in the 50's but the pattern it was made from was. The gown is made of yellow faile with a sewn in nylon netting petticoat and is fully lined in China silk. It has an bateau neckline, dropped waist and very, very full skirt. In fact, a second petticoat or crinoline can be worn under it for more fullness.
This faile fabric has a crinkled look and depending on how the light catches it, has either a matte finish or a satiny shine. The pictures don't show this well unfortunately.
